Name the systems that need coverage
“We have backup” leaves important questions unanswered. Identify the systems and data that belong in the scope, including any business applications or cloud services you want the provider to review.
Do not assume a workstation-care agreement also includes backup. At FIX256, backup services are separately scoped.
Talk about recovery as well as storage
Describe the work your team needs to resume and the systems it depends on. Use that conversation to agree on recovery priorities and objectives in writing.
Retention, testing, and recovery work should have a defined scope. Avoid treating an unconfirmed target as a guaranteed recovery time.
- What systems and data are covered?
- What retention is agreed?
- Who is responsible for checks and testing?
- How is recovery work requested and authorized?
- What work or costs sit outside the service?
Keep responsibilities in writing
A useful backup conversation ends with clear ownership. Confirm what the provider does, what your team does, and how changes to the environment affect the scope.
FIX256 agrees on covered systems, retention, responsibilities, and recovery priorities before choosing a solution. Testing and recovery work follow the agreement; specialist recovery may require a separate quote.
Use the right channel when something goes wrong
If you are already a client, follow your contracted support and escalation instructions. Website inquiries are not an emergency channel.
For planning a new service or reviewing coverage, contact FIX256 with a high-level description of your needs. Leave credentials and sensitive incident data out of the initial message.
